Course Description

This thirty-six hour, hands-on course is designed to present an introduction to the Allen-Bradley PLC-3 family of programmable controllers. It primarily consists of exercises utilizing the PLC-3 programmable controller.

Persons engaged in the installation, troubleshooting, programming and maintenance of the Allen-Bradley PLC-3 family of programmable controllers.

Prerequisites

Participants should have a working knowledge of electromechanical control devices and be familiar with relay ladder logic.

Format

Hands-on Workshop. One lab station for every two participants. Software in this course can be selected from the following: Allen-Bradley 6200 Series, ICOM AI Series or T-4 Industrial Terminals

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn to:

Identify the hardware components of any programmable controller in the PLC-3 family

Distinguish the features and capabilities of the different PLC-3 models

Configure and install a PLC-3 system

Effectively use a personal computer to enter and edit control programs

Isolate processor faults to the module level

Troubleshoot programs utilizing all instructions of the PLC-3 controller (except file instructions)

Properly use a printer and data storage device to copy and load programs
